The Season of Lent

Lent is a season of the Church year which begins on Ash Wednesday and covers a period of approximately six weeks before Easter Sunday.  The purpose of Lent is the preparation

of the believer for Easter through prayer, introspection, denial of ego, and acts of virtue.  Lent, as an event, is observed in the Anglican, Eastern Orthodox, Lutheran, Methodist, Episcopal, and other traditional churches.
